How do I find a good tutor?

Ask for three things before you pay anything: what they will actually teach, how they will show you it is working, and who will be in the room each week. A good tutor can answer all three in writing. Be wary of anyone leading with a success percentage, anyone who cannot tell you what is in the syllabus they claim to teach, and anyone who will not name your tutor. Then take a trial class and watch one thing — whether your child talks during it.
