Choosing a tutor
What age is best to get a tutor?
There is no single best age, but the most useful ones are the transitions: the move into abstract work around grades 6 to 8, and the two years before a board exam. Primary-age tutoring earns its place mainly for reading fluency and number sense, which everything later rests on. Earlier is not automatically better — a young child who is coping well at school usually needs time and sleep more than another hour of lessons.
